Time for Hollywood Liberals to Apologize. Really.


Let's just take a quick look at a current Hollywood TV show that is supposed to mirror current politics and give us a peek inside the White House in full operation: Madam Secretary.

I like this show - that's why I have watched it faithfully for 3 seasons.

Season 3 Ep 06 is quite a gem in the Liberal left's political Fantasy Island, as it includes the most perfect portrayal of a blatant bait and switch tactic used by the liberal left so often in this political climate, and whats worse is that people stand up, cheer, and call this rhetoric 'genius'.

The synopsis:

A Muslim blows up a coffee shop full of white customers, and it is revealed that one of the Madam Secretary's crew, a speechwriter named Matt Mahoney is part Muslim, and starts taking heat for it - to the point of the President's Chief of Staff asking him to write a speech how it does not reflect him as a Muslim, or any other Muslim, for that matter, and to disavow the act.

So what does the one of Muslim Faith in the White House say to this request by the COS?


He then demands - yes, this 'gofer' White House employee - just demands that everyone gather for him, even offhandedly telling the Madam Secretary's assistant to 'Get the Secretary' in the room.

And then, getting ready for the Emmy Nom on all fronts, the show comes out blasting with both liberal barrels, giving us all at once a breathtaking, condescending, finger wagging, soaring, master crafted...

load of hogwash.

Let's see if you can catch it.

"Of course, I'm just as horrified as everyone that a deranged man blew up a coffee shop. I mean, how could anyone ever doubt that? But I'm NOT saying anything, publicly or otherwise, because I shouldn't have to. My condemnation should just be a given. When a white man shoots up a black church, no one demands that white men across the country denounce the attack. It's understood that the perpetrator is on the fringe, that every American decries the tragedy. But somehow, when an Islamic extremist commits an atrocity, every Muslim is implicated."

Well, there you have it. He sure told us, didn't he? People all over the internet are applauding the genius of this, and the timeliness, etc.

But what is he really saying? A grand truth? An inspiring diatribe on par with 'hope and change'?


In fact, it is the biggest offensive slap in the face to intellectuals and educated people everywhere.

This is the typical bait and switch that actually intellectually destroys itself, rendering it worse than meaningless.

Did you catch it? He says:

"When a white man shoots up a black church, no one demands that white men across the country denounce the attack... But somehow, when an Islamic extremist commits an atrocity, every Muslim is implicated."

So in what is supposed to be a utterly irrefutable blast of logic and ethical lesson from the Liberal Left becomes a tragic and embarrassing mess of uneducated, soulish, and adolescent thoughtless meandering.

You see, he baits you with what you think is going to be an ethical lesson based on the issue (muslim terrorist), but then *switches* at the last second by using as his primary example something not even remotely in the same world, or universe even, of his argument.

He starts talking about Muslims - which is a Faith - and switches to a 'White Man', which is Race.

So of course he's talking about Dylan Storm Roof who shot up a black Church, killing 9 people, and the crux of his argument to not personally condemn the Muslim suicide bomber as a fellow Muslim is because no other White Males were demanded to disavow Dylan Storm Roof when he murdered blacks.

But the problem is - being a white male is not a faith that you choose to subscribe to, nor does it come with a hand book of instructions, like say - the Quran.

What the character of Matt Mahoney is REALLY saying - is that (something else we have heard of far too often) if a Catholic priest is found to have molested a child, the Catholic Priests or Church is/are off the hook and have no obligation to disavow or denounce these actions.


Yes - that's his argument, which I and anyone who is being intellectually honest would say is horrifically ridiculous.

So Matt Mahoney gives what is called a 'Straw Man Argument'.

He was asked as a subscriber to a chosen Faith, Muslim Faith, to disavow and distance himself from a fellow Muslim of the *exact same Faith* who takes his Faith seriously in the removal of the infidel, of which they are instructed to do, with violence. And what he calls a Muslim 'Extremist', or 'Radicalized' is so intellectually dishonest to actual Muslim teaching as to be laughable. In fact Muslims who are NOT radicalized or extreme are told they will go to Hell!! Quran 4:95-97^^

So why does he make an argument to not disavow or denounce the grotesque and evil actions of his fellow Muslim brother in the Faith by using  RACE by means of example in a Faith argument?

Because Hollywood liberals and their audiences are not smart enough to know the difference.

This is an affront to intellectualism in every way, and the acceptance of convoluted arguments such as these - a devastating commentary on modern societies ability to critically think.

Oh, and by the way, white males everywhere in fact DID denounce & disavow what Dylan Storm Roof did - and because there is ONE photo of this low life - one photo in all his life - with a confederate flag in his hand, our Governments took down all US Historical Confederate battle Flags off all buildings, even taking down historic statues in the Southern States that had any link to the Confederacy. Our whole country went far beyond what was ever necessary to denounce the white male killer.

So not only is this argument found in Madam Secretary self defeating and contradictory, but it also purposefully misleads the viewers from the actual facts concerning the 'white male' shooting, and it's aftermath.

Funny, Muslims still get to hang their flags in the USA.

Ted Cruz Literally Denies Jesus Christ.

I’m going to criticize Ted Cruz in this open letter.
But NOT for what you think…

Please read, especially those of you who consider yourself a Christian. For anyone else – it is a curiosity, isn’t it? Join the party and think for yourself.

Oh, and please don’t just watch the video yet, I have something to hone in on, and to me, it is extremely important..thnx :)

“What is Christianity?”

There is no codified answer that is simple.

Perhaps more powerfully, true and faithful followers of the historical Jesus – which does not always equate to the ‘sanctified and accepted Churches either Protestant or Catholic, beliefs or associations’ – may find their identity more simply communicated in what they are *not*. It’s True.

Let’s use Ted Cruz for an example. This so perfectly illustrates my deepest of frustrations with all who cling to and claim to be ‘Bible Believing Christians’, who ‘Do It By The Book’. I know I’m going to pick on Ted Cruz here, but it equally translates across the broad spectrum and is a window into seeing the gross liberties and the massive and scary lack of understanding my so called contemporaries, or fellow ‘faithful in Jesus’ actually have, and the double standards lived day in and day out by these hypocrites, who only damage true religion. I AM going to blast Ted, but not for what you are thinking. I will post a video at the bottom *exposing* Ted, but I want you to read carefully what I’m going to post next.

It really is helpful background:
The bible is 2 sets of covenants, usually comprised of 66 books with over 40 different authors written over thousands of years – all with a general theme that has no contradiction. While the first covenant serves as a groundwork and under-girds the 2nd, ‘Christianity’ itself is based on the revelation of Jesus – as ‘fulfill-er’ of the requirements of the first covenant (which was deemed necessary due to man’s inability to co-exist relationally with God), thus becoming an extension, or sect of Judaism with the understanding of a ‘breaking of the boundary’ between Mankind and their Creator, so as to journey to the end of the story once again in relationship directly with God. (Very nutshell)

So the second covenant, or the ‘new testament’, is full of letters. Simple letters sent between the burgeoning groups of people who either witnessed Jesus personally, or heard of him and followed the call of God. How these ‘postcards’ turned into textbooks is for another time – but the ‘new testament’, the thinnest part of the whole bible by the way, includes something truly great - 4 versions of a testimony of Jesus. 3 written by 3 who walked with Jesus physically, and one overview by a notable doctor and historian of the time.
This is the heart of that strange word they call the ‘Gospel’. Gospel just means “Good News!”

So leaving all the postcards aside, what was known as the ‘Good News’ was the life of this Jesus, and the stuff he actually said.
I like this stuff.
A lot.

So does Ted Cruz, he says so himself! His Dad makes a fantastic living, as do Pastors in general (Joel Olsteen and Benny Hinn could end world hunger alone) by re reading all these 2000-year-old postcards to people who show up to hear them. Ted and his family humbly reduce their stature by getting on their knees to pray (listen or converse with God) for *hours on end*.
As a household with a built in Pastor (his father), every day was Church for the Cruz family, and the ideas found in the bible were greatly read, contemplated, respected, and followed.

- Sigh. -

Now onto my frustration.

The very acts that do violence to true religion.

The very subversive, outrageous & diabolically twisted acts committed by Ted Cruz that disgust me...

... Praying.

I like a lot of stuff that was written in those postcards (the bible) they sent to each other long ago. I like a lot of stuff that Ted probably likes, too.

But do you know what I like, like I mean, what I really like?

I like the stuff that the guys heard Jesus say. I like the things that Jesus said that blew their tiny baffled minds, that made them sit on the side of some dusty road outside Jerusalem and wonder exactly what they were doing or what they got themselves into.

Because Jesus was strange to them.

On one hand He hung out and drank wine with the whores, and sat around telling stories with the rejects of society.
All the while a deeply seated resentment and burning anger was smoldering right underneath for those who went out of their way to appear religious.

In fact, Jesus said,

“BE CAREFUL NOT TO PRACTICE YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS IN FRONT OF OTHERS TO BE SEEN BY THEM. If you do, you will have no reward… when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the churches and on the streets, to be honored by others, Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full..” (the conceit of social standing & esteem of others, but nothing spiritual from God).

THEN - this is Jesus talking – then Jesus says,

“AND WHEN YOU PRAY, DO NOT BE LIKE THE HYPOCRITES, FOR THEY LOVE TO PRAY STANDING IN THE CHURCHES AND ON THE STREET CORNERS TO BE SEEN BY OTHERS, Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like those without true religion, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. DO NOT be like them…”
- Jesus

Feel free to re-read that bit as much as you want. You can even tell your friends!

You know, if you’re an actor in a theater/film and there is a scene where you pray, go ahead and read your lines. This is certainly not blasphemy.

But that certainly is NOT what is happening here.

Here we have Ted Cruz, a self-avowed Christian making this commercial, to portray himself and his family to the American people purposely in a *favorable way*.

This is not supposed to be acting – this is Ted Cruz and his family, your next ‘1st Family’, ‘just as they are’, in their ‘natural environment’.

And how does he do it? By Prayer!

So what are we to make of Ted Cruz and family at 2:28 in this ‘making of commercial’, or the commercial itself?
The problem is – as much as Ted Cruz preaches on homosexuality, abortion, his dominion theology, or a host of other subjects he 'interprets' from the bible – how did he miss this? This simple straight forward record of Jesus speaking about the very thing he is doing.

How – truly, how – does he think by literally going against the very words of the man Jesus – forget all the postcards (Bible), the messengers (The Apostles), and the Disciples even – this is THE man himself!

These are the words of Jesus!


Ted says, “No Jesus”.

Ted knows better than the very man’s words he has pledged his life to following and serving.

Ted says - that in fact - he WILL pray on the street corners to be seen of men – and for they very purpose of it to make him look favorable in the eyes of men! He will babble on, and then teach his innocent young girls to do the same, and corrupt them in an act of hypocrisy they could not begin to understand.

**Now watch Ted's bit starting at 2:28 in the commercial**

“Look at me, prayin’ away! Look how my kids pray! Look how my wife prays! My Mom prays for hours on end!!”

“Don’t you see how religious I am now?! Don’t you esteem me more?! Am I not now SEEN and PRAISED by all as a man of RIGHTEOUS ACTS and a MAN OF PRAYER?! Don’t you SEE?!”

Sadly, that is the core of the whole commercial.
All the while, his very own Lord and Savior that he has proclaimed is saying at the exact same time:

- Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them, as the hypocrites do in the churches and on the streets, to be honored by others.

- When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the churches and on the street corners to be seen by others

- Go find a closet, lock the door and pray in secret (From the New Testament book of Matthew, Chapter 6. Read it for yourself)

Why is this important? Want to hazard a guess?

Because talk is cheap, and you can’t fool God, and if you give charity for the sake of recognition, which is sadly personal gain in the guise of religion – guess what? People will regard you, but God won’t! You’ve actually done the opposite.

This is how a genius weeds out the fakes.

They don’t want to hear of it. They want to see it said, yes, but by DEED, and deed alone.

Because that’s reality. Anything else is disingenuous.

Someone very keen once said, “If the Church did its job, there would be no need for welfare in this country!” You see, the very first “Social Program” wasn’t legislated, or argued about and voted on in a senate hearing.
The first social welfare program was simply the love of God, received by you, and then through you. The love you felt - compelled you, in fact - to love others. It just happens because you can’t help it. That is true religion.

And then there are those annoying trouble makers who break the chain, and rather than doing it – sit in front of a camera and showboat about it. This is NOT religion in any form, but a sad case of hypocrisy at it’s very Christ-denying worst.

Ted, Jesus said don’t do it.

He stressed it.

This isn’t some debatable side doctrine written by Paul the apostle as he struggled to take over and control the young band of the faithful that called themselves ‘followers of The Way’… This is Jesus being as clear as he has ever been in recorded history.

What are you thinking, bro’?

In fact Ted, you have no right to call upon others to change their life in any way when you so blatantly sidestep what Jesus has clearly told you – in fact, you actively do what he exactly said what not to!

-to refuse to agree or accede to;
-to refuse to accept the existence, truth, or validity of;
-to refuse to accept or admit something;"

Ted Cruz, with this material, has denied all Jesus said in Mathew Chapter 6.

Please read Matthew Chapter 6, verse 5 to 8 while watching Ted’s commercial at 2:28. It’ll be a great time to go on a diet, because I promise you, you will lose your appetite.

Isn't it so?

Christmas has come and gone from in and around the Castle, and after all the festivities there is one thing that I find, as I come across them, utterly abhorrent.

Old decorations, whether they be Christmas, or perhaps even summer string lighting. Nonetheless, wires and strands of plastic coated cabling awkwardly strewn about and tangled in everything. These strands sit in broad daylight, drooping from naked, leafless, tree branches - and they look gawdy. Then, at night when it's dark, they are not seen, or perhaps an out of season decoration is on anyway - blazing away describing with utter perfection the utter ignorance of the one who dwells there.

Then - I think of 'The Church'.

How silly the strands of followers look, when they are not plugged in. A lifeless strand that you know should be doing something, twinkling, what have you. But no, this is how it seems to be in the modern Church. Either you see this unplugged strand, that you know can produce marvels - but is not, or you get the other - a blazing and irritating light completely 'out of season', yet blazing anyway, without any concern for things like time and place, or more importantly, being 'in and out of season'.

Yes, we shine brightly in some seasons, and other seasons, like those with vitamin D deficiencies, we must bask ourselves in the light, from a much more powerful source.


This I know - an unplugged cable not only does nothing, but has the added bonus of ugliness. A light properly plugged in, yet poorly timed is not only beyond useless, but delves into hilarity as one mid summer day, Sun clear, hot, and strong, finds someone wandering the yard with a flashlight, or better - a 10,000 watt theater spotlight, and he is swinging it all around managing to blind you from the Sun itself.

Ah, but Christmas... and the warmth, joy, and wonder of a well timed light in the world.

Don't Worry Jesus, We'll help!!

Getting supplies to the castle can take long periods of time, but I am able to write again with fresh ink... ...which makes me ponder prophecy - which is indeed similar - a quill, or pen, is only useful if supplied with ink - the ink being the prophecy, the pen being the humble instrument on which the ink of God flows. But, alas, back to my original thoughts...

Let's see.

There is One God, and yet so many millions of people depending on him. Poor guy! How does he do it? Running from one calamity to the next, one request after another - you remember the scene of an anxiety ridden Jim Carey trying to handle God's work in the film 'Bruce Almighty' with every request taking the form of a 'Post It' note until he himself is utterly engulfed by them.

God must be so busy that certainly my trivial daily needs must be so inconsequential that I fear they will be overlooked! Hey, I have an idea! I'll help him out. That way he can look after that real problem down the street and I'll feel a lot more confident that everything I need will be looked after.

You know, bless our friends for their input - I still have learned more from those in my life who have offered up real criticism than from those with pasted on smiles where everything is "Great!".
But in careful listening and weighing of the input some interesting traits can be exposed.

One I find most curious is the revealing "Let's help Jesus!" mentality.

Now before you start imagining who these people are and making judgments in your mind - take a moment to pause, and lets look at our daily attitudes.
I'll choose one attitude in particular that was mentioned that stirred my thoughts in this direction:


The setting:
There are certain things in everyone's possession that could be easily stolen.

The recommendation:
"Whhhaaaat?!? Hey - you need to alarm all your stuff!!"

Yes, alarm companies offer a service that they sell as deterrents or even guaranteed safeguards against theft related situations regarding auto, home, business, etc, etc. Some say it is a wise and shrewd person who chooses to utilize and pay for services of this nature. You know - so the stuff that you eat, drink, wear and drive will be exactly where you left them in the morning.

Whew! Hey, Wow! What calm assurance and worry free living the alarm companies have given me!

Someone else once said something quite different:

"For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? “Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? “And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! “Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ “For the Pagans eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

Taken from Matthew 6.

I could write paragraphs of exegesis on the preceding being not spiritual issues, but real pragmatic, material things, the 'stuff of life' we need to live - but I think the passage speaks pretty good for itself (after all, it is the Bible).

Yeah, the same 'stuff' your friends rebuke you for - for not looking after good enough.
(Oh, ME of little faith?)

Let's not just look at alarms - you who easily agree - let's look at all of it. What about your 401k, Investments, Real Estate Holdings, Contingency Funds, Retirement Plan, Pensions, and everything else you have toiled to preserve for yourself so that day by day you will have the things that one day Moth and Rust will destroy?

Oh, and don't forget -
Coming Soon To A Residence Near You:
A Thief In The Night, that no alarm or security can keep out...
and on this night,
your most intimate and personal of possessions,
indeed your very soul,
will be required of you.

Remember the the persistent widow and the friend at midnight? Through their persistence they saw completion of their needs - keeping in mind their persistence was in dependence on God through fervent prayer.
Jesus went as far as saying the widow would not only see justice served, but that she would see it 'quickly', or in this life, not just in some disconnected spiritual sense.
Luke 18:1-8, Luke 11:5-13

Let's shift to an aside for the moment - Career Christians, Pastors, Churches, Television Evangelists, in fact let's lump them all together.

What's funny is that for all the Church Alarms, Church Investments, Pastor Salaries, and On and On Ad Infinitum, there is the one area that Career Christians seem to 'forget' about 'Helping God'.


That's right folks, for all the other areas where Christians 'Help God' (because you know, if someone wants to break into your Church and steal a couple 100 Bibles - that would be tragic, now wouldn't it? Why, they might even READ one of those stolen Bibles... they might even BELIEVE the very words of God... but thank Heaven! We have alarms on the Church Doors!), they seem to forget that the same initiative it took to seek out and hire an alarm company to provide calm assurance and peace of mind concerning Church possessions and Christian Businesses, and the same initiative that it took for them to seek out financial advice from investment bankers concerning the millions of dollars in Church holdings; yes, that same initiative could be utilized to 'Help God' by actually obtaining gainful employment to pay for all their ever important and endless 'ministries'.

But no - that's when they cleverly 'remember' to 'act in Faith', which really means sit back and let you pay for all their grand ideas and schemes.

"We must not be self righteous! We must let the Lord of Hosts provide our needs!"

But somehow, the cheque never quite falls from Heaven... but money does appear out the sagging, sore backs of the heavy laden work force ('Laity' is just church jargon for unspiritual regular joe working stiff church attendee) of janitors, welders, steel workers and plumbers to 'provide' the nice office that the Pastor 'Needs' to accomplish his Christianity. (By all means feel free to read 2 Thessalonians 3:6-14, 2 Thessalonians 3:10-12. Could someone please explain why there are a class of 'privileged' christians who need not work for an income?)


Funny word...

So the office the Pastor needs, needs to be alarmed.

And one 'need' is provided by 'Faith' (to be sure: Faith = Your Wallet), and the other 'need' is provided by way of 'Helping God' by purchasing an alarm service.

I can barely describe or contain the agonizing anger and shame I am filled with having to live under the blanket term 'christian' when the Church so blatantly lives in hypocrisy and the abuse of it's own beleivers believers.

And then I remember Jesus.

"So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you NEED before you ask Him."

Do you really believe Jesus knows your needs? And if you really believe that, do you turn that belief into reality by acting in true Faith?
Or are you like the lowly and derisive 'Them', who 'run after these things'.

So what comes directly after Jesus makes this great statement on needs?

"So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you NEED before you ask Him."

Pray, then, in this way:

‘Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. ‘Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. ‘Give us this day our daily bread. ‘And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. ‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil."

But of course, who am I... to argue with those... smarter than Jesus?

Hypocrites, who allow God to provide one moment, but have no Faith He will provide a mere moment later.

Do you not realize your life is not characterized by the moment, but always the moment after? For that is reality.

Jeremiah 29:11 Christians, Part II

my good friend and full time Missionary Paul Hudson wrote a response to my original post, "Jeremiah 29:11 Christians" and apparently my response was too long to fit in the comment reply field, so upon review I think there is enough meat to qualify as a post of it's own.

Paul - hey my Brother! Long time again... it always seems that way.

Paul you know me personally that God has used that very same scripture in Revelation, John 3:15 very personally with me as well (though I didn't immediately produce a thousand cards to be printed and sold based on that - imagine that product line!), Which led me to think long and hard about my view, your critique, and the nature of scripture itself.

In fact it reminded me of an old George Jones song which basically says:
"There's my story, your story, and then there's the cold hard truth"
which about sums up my sentiments exactly.

In fact Paul - you ended up saying it best of all:

"Anyhow, the fact of the matter is that God can use the words of the bible the way He pleases and I think we need to respect that and let God be the one who picks and chooses what He wants to say through His Word, not ourselves."

Good enough for me, which led me to the critique of this verse being insanely elevated in the first place.

My point is the thousands of cards written to be handed out to people like it is written specifically for them! God isn't choosing that, people are.
Remember the warning of saying God has spoken to you when he hasn't in fact spoken to you?: Jeremiah 23:16-40

That is definately worth a read to those of you who flippantly throw Bible verses around like old popcorn after a movie.

Imagine sending a card like this through 'Camel Back Post Services' to Peter because of his persecution and he receives it... and with hands trembling and rattling the chains that bind him he reads the words of Jeremiah 29:11... rejoices at the Lords favor... and then is promptly lead out to his public execution and is cruely crucified upside down in utter agony.
Or to Paul of Tarsus, just before his violent beheading.

How goofy and then profane does it seem if we take 'Foxes book of Martyrs' and then insert this verse before every sacrifial, literally agonizing, life threatening, prosperity killing, physical execution and act as described therein? Even a child would call us out and say there is something very wrong with the promise offered and the events that took place.

Christian bookstores preprinting 100,000 cards with this verse in them is unwise and completely biblically illiterate, biblically ignorant at the very least (not to mention the sleaze of selfishness that it exudes out of context; 'Prosperity, ease, etc), and brings excruciating judgement at the very worst (Jer: 23:16-40).

So, I actually stand with you when you say, "... let God be the one who picks and chooses what He wants to say through His Word, not ourselves..."


It's very simple to see how He in fact already has when that very verse is completely and categorically explained in detail in 29:1 :

"These are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the surviving elders of the exiles, and to the priests, the prophets, and all the people, whom Nebuchadnezzar had taken into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon... It said: "Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the exiles whom I have sent into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon:..."

I for one will not succumb to say God Says when He didn't say - either because of a divorce, loss of a loved one, or any any other reason why christian bookstores sell these cards by the boatload to give 'comfort' - what comfort could there possibly be in giving someone an out of context verse if God has in fact designed a hard road for them? (This statement alone may shock and bewilder most christians)

And what, you may ask, do we do in the extremely rare event when God does want to use you in the office of an encourager to someone, perhaps with this passage? Then put pen to paper my friend and make sure you tell them - but that doesn't excuse the fact that someone has preprinted a zillion of these beforehand, "just in case".

Like you said yourself, "... let God be the one who picks and chooses what He wants to say through His Word, not ourselves..."


Who makes these cards, trinkets, and graven images?


Then, it becomes very easy to up and buy one, you know, the typical christian 'pat' answers and knaively presume to 'speak for God'. And those that do are commiting the worst arrogance possible on Planet Earth - 'Thus says the Lord' when it really is 'Thus says ME'.

How small would God have to be if He only had one answer for your troubles, and at that an answer He delivered thousands of years ago to someone else!

Paul - you and me - we are musicians - try to tell your wife that this gorgeous love song your singing to her was actually written for another woman - but that, well, it's good enough and besides you can't be bothered to come up with something fresh to say to her.

So you keep singing of passion and flame that was originally intended for someone else as she sits there politely listening but also somewhat unnerved wondering, 'Should I feel blessed by this? He's so creative - why doesn't he say something personal based on our current experience? Doesn't our relationship inspire any passion in him to say something personal to me now?"

If we are true people of faith, and in true relationship to God, there will be no lazy utterences, no need for false comfort - but a steadfast knowledge that I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. That I can do everything through him who gives me strength.

And God will let you know this - HIS way.
